At the zoo I was trying to catch ape shapes with limbs outstretched, separated with daylight. This was the best example.

I edited this image with a goal of trying to pop the ape from the dense background. Also, I wanted to preserve detail on the very dark subject while reducing busy details in the background.

Initially the background leaves and sky stole the eye. I decided to lower the contrast and reduce the color until my subject started to win.

I enjoy the clarity the line-drawn treatment provided. Perhaps the final image has increased confidence and fewer obligations.
